Peoria-area "Wheatheads" will have an opportunity next year to see their favorite rock-and-roll band perform locally.
The legendary rock group Kansas has scheduled a performance March 9 at the Peoria Civic Center Theater, according to a news release issued Monday morning. Tickets are to go on sale to the general public Friday.
More information regarding tickets can be found at the band's website, www.kansasband.com. Ticket prices are to range from $42 to $92.
The Peoria performance is part of an extension of a Kansas tour that commemorates the 40th anniversary of the release of "Point of Know Return." That album was among the band's most popular and featured hits that included the title track and "Dust in the Wind."
The band is to perform the album in its entirety, among other songs, the news release stated. The nickname for die-hard Kansas fans stems from the main agricultural product of the band's home state.
Kansas last performed at the Civic Center in April 2017. That was part of a tour that commemorated the 40th anniversary of another album, "Leftoverture," which included the college pep-band staple "Carry On Wayward Son."
On the "Point of Know Return" tour, Kansas is scheduled to perform Saturday at The Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis.
Kansas formed in 1973 and has released three multi-platinum albums, one platinum album and nine gold albums. The "Dust in the Wind" single sold more than a million copies.
Drummer/percussionist Phil Ehart and guitarist Richard Williams are the only two original members remaining in the band. Bassist/vocalist Billy Greer has been a band member for 33 years.
BTW, you might never see a crazier video for a song than the one Kansas put out for "Point of Know Return." Check it out.
