Robert E. “Railroad Bob” McMillen, 81, of Edelstein died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Heritage Manor in Chillicothe.

Born Aug. 2, 1929, in Wyoming to Robert M. and Nola Stephens McMillen, he married Donna Wiesenhofer on April 27, 1957.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary (Ernest) Russell of Edelstein, Rebecca (Eric) Petty of Kewanee and Barbara (Brock) Hardy of Jamestown, Ohio; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Sue Cornell of Kewanee.
Preceding him in death were one granddaughter; one brother, James; and two sisters, Mary Peterson and Gladys Koch.

He was a United States Korean War veteran.

He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 48 years before retiring in 1993.

He was a lifetime member of the Chillicothe VFW and the Dunlap American Legion. He also was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Dunlap.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service was Saturday at Edelstein Congregational UCC Church. The Rev. David Stamerjohn officiated. A gathering of family and friends was before the service. Burial of ashes will be in Prospect Cemetery in Dunlap.
