James “Jim” R. Jeffries, 47, of 10809 West Legion Hall Road, Princeville died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born on Aug. 23, 1961, in Pittsfield, Ill., the son of Gary D. and Jacqualin A. (Doyle) Barker. He married Dawn M. Mulvaney on June 14, 2003, in Groveland, Ill.

Surviving are his wife, parents, and children; Joshua R. Jeffries of Chillicothe, Adam K. Jeffries of Bloomington, Jacob D. Jeffries of Carbondale, and Michaela J. Jeffries of Princeville. Also surviving are four brothers; Tim (Mary) Jeffries of Quincy, IL, John Jeffries of East Peoria, Justin (Maggie) Barker of Perry, Ill., and J.D. (Melissa) Barker of Clayton, N.C.

He graduated summa cum laude from Bradley University with his bachelor of science degree in engineering in 1984. He worked for Caterpillar as a CPS Deployment Manager in the Electric Power Division, where he just celebrated his 25th anniversary.

Jim lived for spending time with his family, especially with his wife and children.

He loved spending time at home as well as outdoors on his property -- Riding 4-wheelers and 4-wheeling in his trucks, building bonfires, playing catch, feeding the turtles and catfish in his pond, and watching TV with his family and fred kitty-cat.

He was involved and dedicated with Habitat for Humanity and the Boy Scouts of America.  

Jim was a beloved husband and father. He will be dearly missed by many family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28th at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Adams will officiate. Burial and grave side services will be held at 4 p.m. at the Pittsfield Cemetery, Pittsfield. Visitation will be Monday, 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
