Celebrate the Fourth of July this weekend by watching "Twilight" and fireworks, going on a picnic and spending as much quality time with your family as you can – it’s the American way!
The vampires return this weekend, and if you have teens or pre-teens, you’re likely headed to the theater to see the newest movie in the wildly popular “Twilight” series. “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” is rated PG-13 and should be in line with the previous films as far as content. If you’re looking for something different, the other big movie opening this week is M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender.”
It’s a big sports weekend and the perfect opportunity to hold a barbecue around an event. The World Cup continues Friday and Saturday with quarterfinal action, the Wimbledon championships conclude Sunday and the Tour de France starts rolling on Saturday.
If you want to get out of the house, plan a picnic. If you’re wondering what food to bring on your picnic, you can’t go wrong with hot dogs and ice cream (among other delights) – July is National Hot Dog Month and National Ice Cream Month.
The holiday festivals are in full swing, so check the newspaper for listings. These days most towns hold food fests around the Fourth, and there is sure to be parades stepping off near you.
The rockets’ red glare will be on full display Sunday as people celebrate Independence Day. The Fourth fortunately falls on a weekend day this year, so don’t miss out on the fun. Check the newspaper for listings.
