Chillicothe CEFCU members and employees now may enjoy a member center about three times bigger and more services.
CEFCU reopened for business Jan. 23 in its new building, just a short distance down the street from its old location.
Now at 110 S. Fourth St., the member center features 4,500 square feet of space and a brightly lit inside.
“Most people come in and say, ‘Wow.’ That’s probably the No. 1 word,” said Chillicothe Branch Manager Brenda Dunbar.
The branch opened in March 1997, and Dunbar said ever since she came to the member center in 2007, members were asking for a bigger space to conduct business.
“We’re just really excited to have an office to meet their needs,” said Dunbar. “People told us, and we listened.”
The new location offers new amenities, including three drive-up lanes.
Additionally, with one swipe of a CEFCU card, the Fast Track Teller machines are available 24/7 inside the lobby vestibule, even when the credit union itself is not open.
Also on the inside, enhanced privacy is secured with walls from the floor to the ceiling when members need to discuss their financial needs.
An e-services area gives members a place to use a computer and printer for online banking or take learning courses. The Chillicothe branch is the third to offer this service.
New LCD televisions in the lobby give members current stock prices or other financial information and a public restroom is now available.
The building itself features “green” products and is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certified.
Some of those features include construction materials, recycled glass for windows, and even lights in the offices which are motion sensored and turn off if someone leaves the room for a period of time. If it is a sunny day out, the lights dim to use the right amount of electricity.
To one side of the cashiers is a handicap accessible location for residents needing a lower counter to conduct their business.
Residents also may notice a couple parking spots next to the building with signs stating, “Parking for fuel efficient, low-emitting vehicles only.”
Dunbar said it is another way CEFCU is promoting being green.
The 1.7 acre lot also features plenty of room for parking, which was not in abundance at the old location and an easier entrance and exit.
The Money Center 24 ATM is available next to the three drive-up lanes.
An on-site mortgage originator also is available like previously.
In all, 12 employees assist members at the Chillicothe branch, which includes three additional employees due to the expansion.
A ribbon cutting is planned for 11 a.m. Feb. 23 and a member open house Feb. 24 with food and a drawing.
“We’re excited. We want people to come see us,” said Dunbar.
