Golf first headed into NCIC tourney

The Illinois Valley Central High School varsity golf team finished ninth of 14 teams at the Canton Tournament Saturday.

Sophomore Glenn Maxey led the Grey Ghosts with a 76 and placed seventh individually.

Junior Jared Johnson carded a 79, freshman Drake Rundall an 84 and T.J. Ross an 86.

Other scores were an 87 for sophomore Alex Koch and a 96 for sophomore Austin Youngman.
IVC bowed to Metamora Sept. 24 at Arrowhead, with Metamora carding a 156 and IVC a 172.

Johnson and Ross each had a 40 for the Ghosts, Koch a 43 and Youngman a 49.

Other scores were Maxey with a 50 and Rundall a 51.

IVC topped Princeton at Hunters Ridge Sept. 22, 167-177.

The top four scores for IVC were Johnson with a 39, Koch 40 and Maxey and Ross tied at 44.

Others scores were Youngman with 47 and Rundall with 48.

The varsity team finished 4-1 in the North Central Illinois Conference-Lincoln Division, and rests in first place going into the conference tournament Thursday.

The junior varsity team finished with a loss to Metamora 183 to IVC’s 192.

Tyler Schmit had a 45, Ryan Wargo a 48, Louie Hoerr 49 and Kyle Mooney 50.
Daniel Heinz had a 53 for the Ghosts.

At Princeton, IVC also lost, 200-209.

Top scorers were Mooney with a 50, Schmit 51 and Wargo and Heinz, each with 54. Hoerr had a 55.

The JV team finished with a 2-8 record.
