The Dunlap boys swim team had no problem besting Metamora Eureka Roanoke-Benson on Dec. 13.

The Eagles took first place in every event on the way to a 132-47 victory at home.

“We’ve been working hard, like my girls team,” coach Jim Bucher said. “We have a few more boys then we did girls.”

Dunlap started off with a 200 medley relay win from Ethan Walenta, Leo Xu, Leon Xue and Sam Klister in 1 minute, 54.47 seconds.

That win was followed up with a win by Daniel Plantamura in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.74.

Andy Cooper then won the 200 IM in 2:11.79, with Christopher Zhang finishing in second and John Lang in third.

“We can go three deep across the board and be pretty competitive,” Bucher said.

In the 50 freestyle, Jacob Vandermyde won in 24.40, with Levi Bowlin taking second, while Patrick Nichting won the diving competition with 141.5 points.

Will Chi took first in the 100 fly in 56.85, and Nathan Eppel won the 100 free in 52.91.

“We kind of swam around in different events tonight,” Bucher said.

The 500 freestyle, which had a total of three swimmers, had Klister winning in 5:30.21.

Dunlap took the top two spots in the 200 free relay, while Ethan Walenta (1:01.85) won the 100 backstroke and Zhu (1:07.06) won the 100 breaststroke.

Plantamura and Sam McGee finished second in both events, respectively.

The Eagles finished the night with a first-second finish in the 400 free relay.

“We’re 4-0 now going into Saturday’s meet,” Bucher said. “I’m more than pleased.”

On Saturday, the boys finished in sixth place out of eight teams with 117 points.

The 200 medley relay team took fifth place, while Eppel also took fifth in the 50 freestyle.

Chi, in the 100 fly, Cooper, in the 100 backstroke, and the 400 freestyle relay team took sixth.

The best finish was by Zhu, who took fourth in the 100 breaststroke.

The Eagles are off until Jan. 3, when they take on Pontiac Township at home.
