The Illinois Valley Central girls basketball dropped its first Illini Prairie Conference game against Stanford Olympia 50-25 Monday, Dec. 11.
The Lady Ghosts (1-6, 0-1) raced out to an early 6-0 lead on the Lady Spartans home court. Olympia, eventually caught up and a back-and-forth battle ensued throughout the first quarter.
A buzzer-beating 3-pointer gave IVC a 15-12 lead going into the second quarter. The Lady Ghosts, however, were outscored 3-11 before heading into halftime.
Olympia picked up where they left off and increased its lead 42-20 to end the third quarter.
Katie Tiller led IVC with eight points and three rebounds. Kayla Wolf also turned in a solid effort with six points and eight rebounds.
