It should not come as a shock to residents that Chillicothe’s own St. Jude runners would make their fundraising goal of more than $100,000.

Bigger than the amount of money raised is the heartfelt support for local causes, something that Chillicothe has down pat.

Every dollar raised for St. Jude, whether by Chillicothe or another community, assists children whose lives are affected by cancer.

And that cause has touched us here.

We in Chillicothe have St. Jude patients who have gone on to adulthood and are beginning their own families.

Featured on the St. Jude telethon Saturday night was Josh Bundy, son of Max and Joann Bundy, and his wife, Anna, who were just married that day.

Bundy was diagnosed at age 4 with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and received treatment through St. Jude.

While Bundy is one of the many St. Jude success stories, we also know some children will stay embedded in our minds for their tenacious spirit in battling the disease, but will not see their wedding days.

The Chillicothe St. Jude runners raised $112,000 to help all children who need St. Jude to be able to live a long life.

A big thumbs up to runners, their support staff and residents who donated.
