Dear fellow Chillicotheans,

My name is Jack Morgenstern, and I am the advisory board chairman at Three Sister’s Park.

I would like to start by wishing each of you a happy and prosperous New Year!

I have been a volunteer for 10 years, serving the last seven years on the advisory board.

The advisory board, the staff, as well as the foundation board of the park, would like to keep Chillicothe informed and up to date on all happenings, events and projects, and share this information with you through a monthly article in this newspaper.

Our plans are to have a different board member write an article each month. I would like to start by introducing each foundation and advisory board member and their positions with the park.

Starting with the foundation board, our president is David Mueller, vice president and treasurer, Ken Casper, secretary, Tim Cassidy, and director, Don Timmons.

Our advisory board consists of the following members and the committees on which they serve:
Kevin Enquist (3 Sisters Antique Tractor Club), Jim Hein (Historic Village), Jennie Hawkey (Three Sisters Folk Art School and advisory board membership), Lisé Mundwiller (farmhouse, beautification and Folk Art School), Roger Larson (community relationships), Patrick Kirchofer (beautification and farmstead), Bob Coppernoll (beautification and farmstead), Joan Quigg (park historian and Folk Art School), Bob Shepard (maintenance and storage buildings), Don Connor (beautification and farmstead) and Ron Weitzel (education programs).
Folks, any of you can volunteer to help with these committees by calling the park at 274-8837.

If your interests are gardening, carpentry, painting, farming, clearing timber for the new Three Sisters Folk Art School or planting trees, shrubs and bushes for the Historic Village, and the list doesn’t end here, we welcome your help!

Here is a look at what’s coming to Three Sisters Park in 2009:

• Taste of Chillicothe, March 19

• Spring Planting, April 28-30

• Summer Camp, May 21-24

• Hot Air Balloon Festival, July 24-26

• Farm Heritage Days Tractor Show, Aug. 15-16

• and Spider Hill, every Friday and Saturday in October.

Please watch for additional events to be announced.

Some of the present projects that are ongoing at the park are the development of the 1918 Living History Farm, Historic Village and the Folk Art School.

More on these projects will be addressed by my fellow board members in future articles.
