William “Bill” T. Crutchfield, 82, formerly of Chillicothe, died at 6:03 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at his home.

Born April 22, 1927, in Chillicothe to Thomas W. and Ethel H. Bornsheuer Crutchfield, he married Jerry Ann Bell in Lexington, Mo., Oct. 18, 1980. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Paul (Pam) Crutchfield of Fort Madison and Jaris Crutchfield of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Martha (Paul) Boyle of Chillicothe, Marcia (Dr. Allen) Kash of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Jil (Randy) Schuetz of Centerville, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Louise Gire of Tuscola and Mary Bell Riggins of Chillicothe.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Henry, and one grandson.

He served in the United States Navy Seabees during World War II.

He was a general foreman of the bridge and building department for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Ss. Mary & Joseph Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Thursday at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Madison, where the family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m.

A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ss. Mary & Joseph Church. The Rev. Mark P. Spring will officiate.
Cremation will follow the service.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Great River Hospice.
