Charles H. Dunbar Sr., 67, of Chillicothe died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at his home.

Born March 17, 1941, to David B. and Winifred (O’Hara) Dunbar in Peoria, he married his high school sweetheart, Donna Jean Smith on June 21, 1959. She preceded him in death in 2003.

Also preceding him in death were his father, a brother, a grandchild, and a great grandchild.

Surviving are his mother; his children: Charyl Jones of Peoria; Charles Dunbar Jr. of Chillicothe; Ronald Dunbar of East Peoria and Greg (Gina) Dunbar of Eureka; two sisters, Dixie (Bill) Cox of Creve Couer, and Debbie (Mike) Schafer of Brandon, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a union painter, and a member of Local 157 for 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Peoria Scottish Rite, and attended The Cross Baptist Church in West Peoria.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Davison-Fulton Anderson Chapel in Chillicothe. The Rev. Jay Arnold will officiate. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.

Memorials may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.
