LaVern D. Camp, 74, of Brimfield, formerly of Bartonville, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle, Ill.

Born Sept. 11, 1935, in Peoria, to LaVern Z. and Mary Radosavlyev Camp, he married Carol Walz Oct. 8, 1964 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Daniel (Kimberly) of Chillicothe, Michael of Peoria, and Joey (Jamie) of Peoria; and seven grandchildren, Jodi, Abigail, Taylor, Isabella, Dylan, Charlotte, and Jonathon. He is also survived by one brother, William (Jane) Camp of Osakis, Minn., and one sister, Carmella Beckwith of Elmwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents, William and Myrtle Camp, by whom he was raised.

He was a Navy veteran and a member of the National Guard. He was also a member of the Brimfield American Legion.

He was an electrician for Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1994.

He was an avid goose and duck hunter who loved to fish and tend to his garden.  One of his favorite events was putting on his annual wild game feed for family and friends.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brimfield.

Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brimfield with the Rev. Michael Liese officiating.
Visitation was from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Additional visitation was Monday, one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial was at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery with military honors.

Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home of LaSalle or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
