Kenneth R. Perkins, 78 of 17201 N. Route 29, died at 3:02 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at his residence. 

Born Aug. 28, 1930, to George and Mabel Kimzey Perkins, he married Frances K. Roberts-Appleyard on July 15, 1971 in Peoria. 

Surviving are his wife of Chillicothe and his children: Sandra (David) Cheney of Bellevue, William (Deanna) Perkins of Bellevue, Richard (Elizabeth) Troxell of Columbus, Ohio and Katheryn (Steven) Sheffield of Minneola, Fla.;  14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and two  brothers; Ronald Perkins and John (Beverly) Perkins of Hanna City. 

He was preceded in death by two sons, one great-granddaughter and two sisters.

He was a member of Teamster Local #627 of Peoria. He retired from Construction Materials of Peoria.  After he retired he taught at the ICC Truck Driving School and worked part-time at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home. The Rev. Ray Harrison will officiate.  Burial will be in the Smithville Cemetery, Smithville, IL. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
