Ernest James Arnold, 82, of Chillicothe, died on Friday, March 5, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Born Nov. 5, 1927 in Kewanee, IL the son of William E. and Bessie V. (Shreck) Arnold, he married Doris Schilling Dec. 26, 1940, in Rome. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Michael Arnold of Chillicothe, Frances Mattern of Henry and Pennie (Amado) Arida of Dunlap; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beverly Nelson of Chillicothe.
He was a carpenter in the Chillicothe area working for various contractors then working for Caterpillar, Inc in Mossville for 20 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Peoria Casting Club and the Secretary of George Washington Lodge 222 in Chillicothe.
He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Chillicothe.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. The Rev. Steven Mall will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Masonic rites conducted at 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery.
