Ernest D. Murray, 61, of Chillicothe died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born Sept. 23, 1948, in Peoria to Ernest J. and Josephine E. Murray, he married Martha M. Pollack Jan. 9, 2002. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Carrie Rae and Tina; three brothers, Stephen Bradley of Phoenix, Ariz., Davis Towler of Creve Coeur and Bob Murray of Florida; and three sisters; Judith Kelley of Belleview, Sharon Siegfriend and Marla Towler, both of Prescott, Ariz. 

He was preceded in death one infant son; Christopher Duane and one infant daughter; Cristy Lee.

He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Army.

He worked for Caterpillar for 30 years, retiring in 2002.

He was a member of the Chillicothe Sportsman's Club.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. The Rev. Michael Robison will officiate. Burial will be in the Blue Ridge Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 9 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4999. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 9 or to the A.R.K. Humane Society in Lacon.
