Nicholas Scott Flagg, 25, of Chillicothe, died at 11:41 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born Sept. 3, 1982, to Chuck and Patty Arnold Flagg, he lived at home with his parents.

Surviving are his parents, one brother Jason C. Flagg of DeKalb, his maternal grandmother, Barbara Arnold of Chillicothe, his paternal grandfather, Richard C. Flagg of Plainfield; one aunt, Kathy Shambrook of Bloomington; and one uncle, Russell Flagg of Plainfield; and five cousins.

Preceding him in death was his uncle, Rick Arnold; his maternal grandfather, Asher Arnold; and his paternal grandmother, Jean Flagg.

He was employed as a bagger at Kroger's in Chillicothe since 2001. He worked one-year prior at Kroger's through IVC/SEAPCO co-op program.  He was a 2002 graduate of IVC High School.

He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, an adult altar server, an Eagle Scout earning seven palms, a vigil honor member of the Order of the Arrow, he served on the WD Boyce Eagle Board of Reviews, the Diocese of Peoria Catholic Committee on Scouting and was an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 69 in Lacon.

He was in 10 high school plays and musicals at IVC, a Madrigal singer, recipient of the George Taylor Award, and the Vocal Pride Award for his dedication and loyalty to IVC's vocal music program.

He had been active in Chillicothe Summer Theater, Special Olympics, HISRA TGIF's and SNL'S through HISRA and the Chillicothe Park District.  He participated in many local service projects in Chillicothe and Lacon. 

He was a tissue/organ donor, which were his wishes.

Funeral Mass will be at St. Edward's Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Monday with visitation at 10 a.m.  The Rev. Glenn H. Harris will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Broken Arrow Ceremony conducted by the BSA Order of the Arrow lodge at 7 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following the mass with a family committal service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Troop 69, Lacon, IL, HISRA, St. Edward Church, or Rescue 33.
