Maxine Ellen Horner, 81, of Chillicothe, died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Born on April 26, 1928, in Beardstown, to Frank J. and Lucy Wilber Wetherell, she married Jack V. Horner on Nov. 16, 1947, in Beardstown. He died Sept. 26, 2006, in Chillicothe.

Also preceding her in death are six sisters, one brother, and one great-grandson.

Surviving are three children, Kenneth (Susan) Horner of Mission Viejo, Calif., F. Steve (Marlene) Horner of Spring Lake, Mich., and Theresa (Steve) Montgomery of Henry; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was an administrative assistant for Peoria School District 150 for many years and was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Chillicothe.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. The Rev. Steven Mall will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services, and inurnment will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington at a later date.

Memorials may be made to her church.
