Freda McBride, 93, of Chillicothe, Ill., formerly of Canton, died at 12:25 a.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at Heritage Manor.
Born Feb. 28, 1916, in Peoria to John and Elizabeth (Richards) Rohde, she first married Ray Tyer.
She later married Andrew Darrell McBride on Aug. 28, 1940. He preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were two sons, Wilfred Tyer and Kenneth McBride.
Surviving are three daughters, Wilma (Jack) Rilea of Homassasa Springs, Fla., Mary Jo (Ron) Phillips of Chillicothe and Debbie Meacham of Canton; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Bernie Tyer; her stepmother, Sophie Rohde, who raised her; and four stepgrandsons.
She was of the Lutheran faith and attended the South Park United Methodist Church in Canton.
She was a member and president of the Longview Social Club in Canton and a member of the Red Hat Society.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton where visitation was this evening. The Rev. Rick Atchley will officiate. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Garden in Peoria.
