Edward O. Owens, 74, of Malden, Mo., formerly of Chillicothe, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born March 29, 1935, to W.H. and Ines Thacker Owens, he married Mary Patterson, Jan. 26, 1978, in Malden, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Randy (Sherry) Owens of Dexter, Steve (Brenda) Owens of Bixby, Okla., Greg (Vicki) Owens of Chillicothe, Curt (Debbie) Patterson of Risco, Mo., and Scottie Owens of East Prairie, Mo.; two daughters, Cindy (Dennis) Shands of East Prairie, Mo., and Kim Boyle of Portage, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Roy (Linda) Owens of Valley, Ala., Bob (Kathie) Owens of Meniff, Calif., and Ron (Darlia) Owens of Dexter.
Preceding him in death were one son, Stanley Owens, and one brother, Jim Owens.
He was a self employed contractor in Malden.
He attended the Assembly of God Church in Malden.
Services were today at his church. The Rev. James Bolin officiated. Visitation was Thursday evening. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden. Landess Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
