Velma Elfreida (Carlson) Ritter, 93 of Chillicothe died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Heritage Manor nursing home in Chillicothe.
Born Nov. 14, 1916, in Peoria, to Elmer and Elfrieda Carlson, she married Carlton “Carl” Ritter on June 22, 1936. He preceded her in death.
An infant daughter, four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Surviving are her son, Aaron “Bud” (Carol) Ritter of Sparland; daughter, Karvel (Steve) Cornejo of La Verne, Calif., and son, Tommy Ritter of Calif.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe. She and her husband traveled for many years from California to Arizona and Illinois before settling in Chillicothe.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Cremation rites will be accorded following visitation and a memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Ted Mitchell will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery.
