Harley L. “Butch” Williams, 60, of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, formerly of Peoria and Chillicothe, died at 7 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born on Feb. 10, 1949, in Macomb.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley G. Williams and Mary Alleyne (Katzenberger) Williams.

Surviving are his daughter, Jody (Shane) O’Leary; and grandson, Shane O’Leary of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Marilyn A. (Richard) Kramberg of Quincy and Sis (Stan) Harr of East Peoria.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967 and served in the Vietnam War in 1968.
During his tour as an infantryman in Vietnam, he was seriously wounded by the enemy. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart.

He attended Richwoods High School in Peoria.

In his younger years, he was an avid bowler and golfer.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and private burial will be held at a later date in the Sunset Cemetery in Quincy.
