Margaret A. Kreiter, 94 of Paxton, formerly of Chillicothe, died at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at the Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton.
Born Nov. 20, 1915, in Peoria to Clayton M. and Mary Ruth McCurdy Neuhaus, she married Charles Kreiter June 18, 1933, in Peoria. He died Aug. 29, 2002.
Also preceding her in death by was one granddaughter, one great -grandson and two sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Donna (Paul) Steiner of Buckley; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marlee Carter of Sun City, Ariz.
She graduated from Peoria High in 1933. She and her husband lived in West Allis, Wis., until 1947 when they moved to Cissna Park until 1956 and then to Chillicothe until 2002. After her husband’s death she moved to Rantoul and then to Paxton in 2006. She volunteered as a licensed practical nurse for the Peoria County Red Cross and was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Chillicothe.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Blue Ridge Cemetery, Blue Ridge with the Rev. Steven Mall officiating. Baier Family Funeral Services of Paxton is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice, Illinois Knights Templar Home or St. Mark’s Lutheran Church of Chillicothe.
