Ron “Poison” Phillips, 69, of Chillicothe, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at Proctor Hospital.

Born July 7, 1940, in Franklin Grove to Clark and Marie (Dierdorff) Phillips, he married Mary Jo McBride Dec. 7, 1963, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Randy Phillips of Peoria and Darrin (Shelley Sipula) of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Ronda Adams of Peoria; and two grandchildren.

He was a driver for UPS for 35 years, retiring in 1994.

He was a scorekeeper at Illinois Valley Central High School for about 25 years and was inducted into “Friends of IVC” Hall of Fame in February 2005. 

He also bowled in Peoria and Chillicothe for several years.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home. The Rev. Raymond Harrison will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake
Memory Gardens in Peoria. 

Memorials may be made to the IVC Athletic Department or Rescue 33.
