Marion E. Bauer, 90, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at Heartland Health Care Center in Henry.

Born Sept. 5, 1917, to William and Ella Henkins Bauer in Marshall County, he married Alma Elmore Feb. 14, 1941, in Princeton. She preceded him in death March 16, 2005.

Also preceding him in death was his brother, Francis Bauer.
Surviving are five sons, Walter (Marion) of Bradford, John (Betty) of Tiskilwa, Richard “Gomer” of Bradford, Jack (Bonnie) of Buda and Edward (Sharon) Bauer of Bradford; three daughters, Eileen (Jon) Norin of LeRoy, Barbara (Ray) Carlson of Chillicothe and Mary Jason of Bradford; 17 grandchildren; 19 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and three step great-great grandchildren.

He was a 1936 graduate of Bradford High School.

He was employed as a farm hand.

He was a charter member of  Kewanee Prairie Chickens and Spoon River Rover Camping Club in Bradford. He also was a longtime member of the Illinois Wanderers No. 1, Family Camper & RVers and Kentucky Col.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford. The Rev. Lauren Gerber will officiate. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Bradford Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bradford Senior Citizens.
