Carol J. Sturgeon, 75, of Chillicothe died on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
Born Jan. 3, 1937, in Peoria to George B. and Edwardene (Stoker) Stuart, she married Richard N. Sturgeon on Aug. 26, 1956, in Chillicothe. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Stephen (Brenda) Sturgeon of Magnolia and Stuart (Michelle) Sturgeon of El Paso; five grandchildren; and one brother, George Stuart of Pekin.
She had worked as an operator at Illinois Bell Telephone and later as a secretary at Mossville Grade School. She also worked at the Peoria Christian Center and then at Parkhill (now Heritage Manor) Nursing Home as the activities director.
She volunteered at St. Edward’s School and Chillicothe Bible Church.
The funeral service was Saturday at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home, with visitation prior. The Rev. Phil Bachman officiated. Burial was in the Chillicothe City Cemetery.
