The Illinois Valley Central football team is still trying to find a home for the 2013 season.
“We have been invited to join the West Central Conference in football only,” IVC Athletic Director Denny O’Boyle said.
The West Central Conference consists of Macomb, Monmouth, Pittsfield, Illini West and West Hancock as well as Quincy Notre Dame, who recently accepted an invitation to join the conference.
The team has asked the conference for an extension to make a decision because, although there has been no formal invitation, the team is still talking to the Corn Belt Conference.
The Corn Belt consists of Bloomington Central, Eureka, Mahomet-Seymour, Normal University, Olympia, Pontiac, Rantoul and Prairie Central.
The team will remain in the Mid-State 6 for the 2012 season, as it did in the 2011 season.
O’Boyle said he hopes to know more by late March.
The football team left the North Central Illinois Conference after the 2010 season when the conference disbanded.
