The Illinois Valley Central High School Theatre Department will perform two one-act plays which tackle two key issues of the day — eating disorders and dating relationships. The plays will be 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17-19 in the IVC High School auditorium. All tickets are $5, at the door.
The first play is “EAT (it’s not about food).”
“This is a serious show about eating disorders among teens. Our society is obsessed with dieting and the ‘perfect’ look. This is a serious issue in the schools and our world. This show may be eye-opening for both teens and parents,” said director Bob Howell.
The second play, “dont u luv me,” is also a serious look at an issue facing teens. Dating relationships can become abusive and Howell notes that, “teens become trapped in a situation they cannot get out of.”
Due to the serious nature of the plays, a professional counselor will lead a question and answer session after the plays.
“The audience will be encouraged to stay and join the discussion,” Howell said.
The cast for EAT (it’s not about food), includes: Jesse Hutchison, Hannah Bredeman, Ryan Greskoviak, Erica Marquez, Lindsay Pugh, Cindy Wenzel, Alexa Baczak, Olivia White, Liz Williford, Natasha Rupert, Connor Bogner, Keaton Judy, Jeremiah Noar, Antonia Rupert, Katherine Heth and Jennifer Gonzalez.
The cast of dont u luv me includes: Madison Auge, Kyle Kerr, Delaney Lawson, Connor Bogner, Katie Wolfe, Brittany Fritz, Ryan Greskoviak, Miclain Keffeler and April Pitts.
