Illinois Valley Central senior Hannah Johnson signed to play softball with Carl Sandburg College Friday.

“I really liked the way the college felt when I was there,” Johnson said. “It’s bright and there are so many windows that you don’t feel trapped. I also talked to the counselors and teachers there and they were very helpful and the coaches are so awesome.

“I’m very thankful I got the opportunity to go there.”

Johnson will head to Carl Sandburg College after her senior softball season with the Grey Ghosts.

“I’m hoping to bring a lot of positive energy to the team and also be a good teammate and help pick them up if they are down,” Johnson said of her goals for her first collegiate season.

On hand for Johnson’s signing were her parents, Paula and Mark Johnson.

“High school ball prepared me for college ball by helping me realize that getting frustrated on the field does not help me play better,” Johnson said. “So, it taught me to forget about an error that I made and be ready for the next play that’s coming.”
