The Chillicothe Junior High Lady Mustang volleyball teams hosted the second annual Go Red for Women night Feb. 7 at CJH during the teams’ games against Farmington.

“Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, so we think this is an important cause,” coach Sara Kinney said. “The money goes to the American Heart Association.”

This year, the team raised $340 through a baked goods sale and selling paper hearts, which were posted around the gym.

The girls’ families helped by bringing in goods to sell and the girls helped sell and make the paper hearts.

“This helps them have a part in contributing to the event,” Kinney said. “We hope this raises awareness of the seriousness of heart disease and gives the girls an opportunity to do something to help.”
