Elsie Ann Blankenship, 69, of Chillicothe died on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at her home.
Born on March 3, 1942, in Alexander County to Virgil C. and Pearl M. (Denton) Thomas, she married William E. Blankenship on Feb. 21, 1957, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 2008.
Also preceding her in death was an infant brother, Jerry Lee Thomas.
Surviving are her children, Barbara Hardmeier of West Peoria, Belinda (Mike) Dossett of Chillicothe and William E. (Cassandra) Blankenship Jr. of Mapleton; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Jeffries of Chillicothe and Virgie (Jim) Johnson of Mason City; and one brother, William “Bill” (Judy) Thomas of Mebane, N.C.
She attended the Chillicothe Christian Church and was a past member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Hentrich will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery.
