Quick reactions and cooperation by Chillicothe Police Department officers led to the arrest of a Chillicothe man for the robbery of Pizza Hut Sunday.

According to a press release from the CPD, the suspect, Brian L. Cox, 27, was caught a short time after the robbery took place.

At about 6 p.m., officers responded to a robbery call at Pizza Hut, 701 N. Fourth St.

Employees provided officers with a description of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle — a maroon 2001 Pontiac with a loud muffler.

Cox was located after a brief chase and apprehended in front of 1426 Cutright St.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken, involving no injuries.

Cox was charged with robbery and aggravated battery and transported to Peoria County Jail.

Also Sunday, in a previous incident, Cox was charged with trespass to a vehicle.

“All the officers and dispatchers involved did a really great job,” noted police chief Steve Maurer.
