Chillicothe, Ill. -

A two-vehicle collision about 7:40 p.m. Thursday at Illinois Route 29 and McGrath left three people with injuries.

According to a Chillicothe Police Department report, Shirley Starry, 43, of 403 N. Fulton, Lacon, was southbound in the left lane on Route 29 when a vehicle driven by Amber L. Swanson, 22, of 302 Main St., Sparland, turned from the left northbound lane of Route 29 headed toward McGrath in front of her.

Starry’s 1996 GMC struck the passenger side of Swanson’s 2007 Hyundai, causing heavy damage to both vehicles.

Swanson told officers at the scene she did not remember what happened.

Her front seat passenger, 39-year-old Kerry L. Swanson, of the same address, had to be extricated from the vehicle by use of the Chillicothe Fire Department’s jaws of life.

After the collision, Swanson’s car traveled and struck a stop sign, causing damage to the sign.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Both Swansons and Starry were transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria by Rescue 33.

All three have since been released.

Amber Swanson was ticketed for failure to yield at an intersection.
