After winning the Rock UR Athletic Storage Contest in April, the new sports storage system has been installed at Dunlap High School.
Basketball fans and visitors to the gym will instantly notice the new system, which has an Eagles design on the front.
“System Saver’s design department came up with several designs and myself and Carla Passmore made a final decision on the graphics,” athletic director Duane Peterson said.
The system, which is six different storage areas, has “Dunlap” written in white and “Eagles” written in yellow, along with an eagle.
Dunlap won the storage system from Spacesaver after Patrick Gornik, the girls tennis head coach, signed the school up for the contest by describing the current storage conditions of the school, as well as submitting photos.
Peterson said that the six storage areas took about five days to completely install.
“Each of the six storage areas rolls on a track controlled by a hand crank,” he said. “It rolls as easily when it is full as when it is empty. It requires very little labor.”
Currently, the system can store equipment for about six to seven teams.
“It has allowed us to move teams out of storage areas where more than one team shared a space,” Peterson said. “Boys and girls swimming, cheerleading, volleyball, baseball and athletic director supplies are currently being housed there.”
He added that the convenience “is huge” for the groups that have moved their equipment to the new storage area.
“Equipment and uniforms are neatly stored on shelves where it is very visible and easy to access,” he said.
