Grafitti was written on both the outside and the inside of the restrooms, according to a police report.
Trash was thrown around the restrooms and rubber chips from the playground were dumped into the toilet.
Chillicothe Police Chief Steve Maurer told the Chillicothe City Council Monday night that problems like this also happened last year.
To stop the problem, the bathrooms will be open 8 a.m. to 4 or 5 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekends.
“I think night time is when most of the damage is done,” Maurer said.
Superintendent of public works Dave Tutterow said he will chain the garbage cans to the wall, making it harder to move the trash around in the restrooms.
On May 20, more problems were noted, such as tables stacked on top of each other inside the park.
