Tips still sought by sheriff’s department

The Peoria County Sheriff’s Department needs the public’s help in locating 29-year-old Christopher M. Ford.

He is a white male, 5-foot 6-inches tall, 120 pounds, with blond hair, hazel eyes and wears glasses.

Last seen at 4 p.m. April 16 in Chillicothe, Ford was reported missing Saturday from the Chillicothe area. His vehicle was found in the Edelstein area.

Anyone with information should contact the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, detective division, at 697-7822.

A mother’s wish
Becky Ford wants people to know that her son has always been a good kid, and he loves his 6-year-old son.

“Chris is a wonderful father,” said Becky. “He is a very good person.”

Chris, who graduated from Illinois Valley Central High School in 2000, and his son live with his parents, Becky and Dennis Ford.

He is the third in a group of four boys raised in the Ford home — Chuck, the oldest, Joshua, then Chris and Joe.

His brothers have not heard from him either, said Becky.

She said the family is dealing with this situation well, and her main wish is to protect her grandson.

“You just don’t know what to do,” she said. “Chris is a devoted and caring father.”

Police have warned the Fords that rumors will reach their ears, but to take them lightly.

“We just ask that people keep their eyes open,” she said. “If they see Chris, let the Peoria County Sheriff’s Department know. They’ve gotten quite a few tips, but none of them in the correct time frame.”

She said her son formerly worked at Western Yeast Co. and was laid off from Fennell’s, but he was working at a new job.

Due to the time of year, Becky said Chris’ asthma and allergies are especially bad, and that he does not have any medications with him.

With prayers and good wishes for the Ford family spreading throughout the Chillicothe community, Becky is very appreciative of all the support they have received.

“Chris’ family absolutely loves him and wants him to come home. We miss him, and his little boy misses him very much. He’s just a good guy.”
