Camp hired as new IVC AD

The Illinois Valley Central Board of Education approved Dan Camp as the new athletic director on Saturday.

Camp, who will take the spot of current athletic director Denny O’Boyle at the start of the 2012-13 school year, is the current athletic director at Richwoods High School. He has been at that position for two years.

IVC District 321’s tax levy sees slight increase

The tax levy at the IVC School District will see a slight increase for the 2012-13 school year.

The Board of Education voted Dec. 20 to raise the levy from 4.4750 to 4.5051, which is the amount per $100 of Equalized Assessed Value that is paid in taxes.

Dunlap school board hears proposed changes for calendar

Assistant superintendent of school operations Dr. Lisa Parker presented proposed changes for next year’s school calendar at the Dec. 14 Dunlap School Board meeting.

The changes include starting the school year a week later than this year, which started on Aug. 15 for teachers and Aug. 17 for students.

Holly volleyball game to benefit CNA Monday

No matter what the score of the Holly Volleyball Game on Dec. 19, Community Needs Agency will be the winner.

The game pits the staff of Chillicothe Elementary Center and South School against the staff of Mossville School. IVC District grade and elementary schools will meet on neutral turf — the IVC High School gymnasium at 6 p.m. Dec. 19.

International Food Fair to celebrate scholarships Saturday

The IVC Educational Foundation will host an International Food Fair Dec. 17 to celebrate its recent awarding of scholarships to three Illinois Valley Central High School students. The scholarships are for the IVC trip to Spain in April.

Foundation purchases new SMART remotes

The IVC Educational Foundation recently made a second donation to the SMART Board campaign. The donation of $15,000 will equip students with interactive remotes for the SMART Boards in their classrooms. This donation comes after the IVCEF’s initial $20,000 matching donation.

District realignment discussions continue for public comment

The Illinois Valley Central District Board of Education and administrators would like to add public comment to their discussion of the future possibility of realignment of the district.

Public forums have been planned to follow three IVC District Board of Education meetings. The first one was Nov. 8, with the other two Nov. 22 and Dec. 20. The forums begin at 7:30 p.m. each night and will be held in the Illinois Valley Central High School library.

IVC’s one-act plays tackle big issues

The Illinois Valley Central High School Theatre Department will perform two one-act plays which tackle two key issues of the day — eating disorders and dating relationships. The plays will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in the IVC High School auditorium. All tickets are $5, at the door.

School tax levy remains unchanged

The tax levy for Dunlap School District No. 323 will remain at 4.17.

The board of education voted Nov. 9 not to raise the levy rate to 4.20.

IVC Madrigal Dinner tickets on sale

Tickets for the Illinois Valley Central High School Madrigal Dinner are on sale now. Tickets for the Dec. 10 and 11 musical dinner theatre are $25 per person and available at IVC High School. Reservations may be made by phone, by calling 274-5481.
