MANITO — The body recovered from the Illinois River on Saturday has been identified as a woman missing from her home near the site of the recovery since February.

The Tazewell County Coroner's Office on Monday confirmed Lois Fidler, 69, was positively identified using dental records.

Fidler, who suffered from dementia, drove off from her home on Copper Creek Road in rural Manito on Feb. 20 and was never heard from again. Her vehicle and body were found Monday by police searching the waterway near her home with sonar during a large-scale search effort organized by the Missing Persons Awareness Network.

The vehicle and her body were found submerged in water about 20 feet from shore just off Copper Creek Road.
