SPRINGFIELD — Vice President Mike Pence is coming to Springfield Friday for a fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville.

Pence will be special guest at the luncheon at Panther Creek Country Club, according to the Sangamon County GOP’s calendar. Suggested donations range from $500 for individuals, $2,700 for a VIP photo opportunity and $12,700 for a “platinum” sponsorship, including four VIP and six lunch tickets.

Davis is locked in a nationally watched race against Democrat Betsy Dirksen Londrigan of Springfield in the 13th Congressional District.

“The Vice President recognizes the importance of ensuring Rodney returns to Congress,” said an email from the Sangamon County Republican Central Committee. “The path to maintaining the majority comes right through Illinois. The Democrats are targeting Rodney and dumping millions of dollars into his opponent’s campaign. We can stop the Blue Wave right here with your help.”

Honorary co-chairs of the event are the other six Republican members of the U.S. House from Illinois.

“D.C. Republicans are so worried about losing Rodney Davis’ loyal vote that they’re bringing in Mike Pence to raise even more money from the large corporations and special interests who he so clearly represents in Congress,” said Emma Brown, Londrigan’s campaign manager.

“While Londrigan has been raising money with Nancy Pelosi and donors in California like Barbra Streisand, Congressman Davis is excited to welcome Vice President Pence to Springfield to talk about the historic economic growth policies this administration and Congress have helped create,” said Davis spokeswoman Ashley Phelps.
