PEORIA — A Chillicothe man was sentenced Wednesday to 18 years in prison for robbing another man at gunpoint in July 2016.

Dakota Frank, 24, of 227 W. Elm St., Apt. 3B, pleaded guilty in Peoria County Circuit Court to one count of armed robbery. As part of the plea bargain, another charge, attempted armed robbery in an unrelated matter, was dropped. Without the plea, he could have faced at least 21 years behind bars.

The other incident, which occurred in March 2017, involved Frank and Rachel Frank, 21, who also lived at the Elm Street address, allegedly trying to enter a Chillicothe apartment by telling the residents inside they were police officers. The resident closed the door upon realizing they were not police, and they left without further incident, police have said.

Rachel Frank's case is still pending.

With credit for time served and day for day "good-time" credit, Dakota Frank could be released from prison in less than nine years.
