PEORIA — The co-owner of the Chicago Cubs will headline the Peoria County Republican Party's annual Lincoln Day Dinner next month.

Todd Ricketts, who is also the finance chairman of the Republican National Committee, will be the keynote speaker at the April 23 event held at the Marriott Pere Marquette.

Statewide constitutional office candidates have also been invited to the event.

"We are honored to have Todd Ricketts join us on April 23. Ricketts has a deep commitment to policies that promote economic opportunity and entrepreneurism. We look forward to hearing his thoughts on the fiscal challenges and opportunities facing our state and country," county GOP chairwoman Carol Hornickle said in a news release. "He may even share a few predictions on the upcoming baseball season."

The event begins with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. on April 23, with dinner program beginning at 6:30 p.m. Information on individual tickets, tables and sponsorships can be found at http://peoriagop.com, by calling the county GOP office at 309-689-8467 or by emailing peoriagop@gmail.com.

Tickets will be available to reserve through April 20.

The Peoria party has a recent history of bringing in high-profile speakers, including two officials who later became members of President Donald Trump's Cabinet. Now-Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke headlined the 2016 dinner, and now-Energy Secretary Rick Perry was the featured speaker in 2015.
