The Illinois Valley Central girls basketball team earned its first victory of the season Monday, Dec. 4, against Peoria Christian.
The Lady Ghosts (1-5, 0-0) turned a slow start into a 32-22 win with the help of a strong performance by Jamie Cecil. Cecil led the team with eight points and came down with 20 rebounds.
After the first quarter, IVC trailed the Lady Chargers 2-7 but closed the gap to 13-14 heading into the break.
The Lady Ghosts outscored Peoria Christian 10-3 in the third quarter and held the lead to close the game. IVC put up another nine points in the final quarter compared to PC’s five.
Other leaders for IVC were Katie Tiller with seven points and six rebounds, and Jordyn Thomas with five points and 13 rebounds.
