Samuel Orion Moyer, 14, of Dunlap, died Nov. 14, 2017, after a long illness. Sam was born Sept. 24, 2003, in Peoria, the son of William Moyer (Alma Sander Moyer) and Ursula Towne (Brett Moore). He attended Chillicothe Schools until his Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy advanced such that he was home-bound and subsequently educated there. He was an active computer expert and profound reader and thinker.

Sam is survived by his parents and step-parents; brother Vantine Moyer, step-brothers Thomas Maston, Ian and Cameron Moore; step-sister Myriah Carpenter (John); step-grandmother Glenda Sander; grandparents Edward and Mary Moyer, and Garth and Wilma Towne; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephew.

A memorial service was held at the Universalist Unitarian Church of Peoria at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26.  In lieu of flowers or other displays, the family requests that donations be made to either the OSF Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit, or the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.
