PEKIN — A man died after being shot in Pekin on Friday morning, according to a Pekin Police Department news release.
Around 4:45 a.m., police arrived at the 1300 block of South 12th Street to find Daniel R. Nichols Jr., 38, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the release.
Nichols was transported to the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center emergency room, according to a death notice from Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The 38-year-old was pronounced deceased at 5:33 a.m.
Autopsy results are pending, though police did not indicate when they might be available.
According to the release, the incident is under investigation.
No further details, including where on his body Nichols was shot, were provided in the release.
