PEORIA — Allegiant Air will add twice-weekly service to Destin, Fla., from Gen. Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport starting in May.
The expansion of flights from the Peoria airport brings to 12 the number of cities to which passengers can fly from the facility, more than any other downstate airport.
The flights on 177-seat A320s begin May 24 with information available on dates, times and fares at allegiant.com.
"We’ve been looking into this market for a while now and talking about it with members of the community," airport director Gene Olson said in a news release from the airport announcing the flights. "We know that there are a large number of central Illinois travelers who go regularly to this part of the Florida Panhandle, and we’re proud to be able to offer them an option that gets them there a lot faster at a great price."
