WINTER CONCERT is at 2 p.m.  March 8 in Illinois Valley Central High School auxiliary gym. By instrumental music department. Titled “Marches, Folk Songs and Patriotic Tunes!!” Free and open to public. Three concert bands, highlights including several folk song medleys and marches by Sousa and Fillmore. One band will perform “To Heal a Nation” by James L. Hosay to commemorate 200th anniversary of birth of Abraham Lincoln. IVC faculty member David Lawson will read Gettysburg Address to musical background.

AMERICAN LEGION POST 9, located at 1043 N. Second St., is serving walleye with au gratin potatoes and cole slaw from 5-7:30 p.m. March 6 for $8. Karaoke by Bedrock from 8 p.m.-midnight. Call 274-3255 for carry-out orders.

VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS POST 4999 CHICKEN FRY is from 4-7 p.m. March 7 at the post home, 1729 N. Santa Fe Ave. $8 per dinner, carry-outs avail. Call 274-4999.

METHODIST MEDICAL CENTER MOBILE MAMMOGRAPHY VAN is at Methodist Medical Group, 525 Sweetbriar, March 9. All digital equipment for improved, faster, more comfortable exams. No need for doctor's order if 40 or over. If uninsured or underinsured, tell them when calling for appt. at 671-8282.

TRI-CITY WOMEN’S CONNECTION is March 17 at Club LaCon in Lacon. Lunch at 12:30 p.m. Nina Herridge on the organ and Herta Stunkel on violin will entertain. Speaker is Barb Hoffner of Madison, Wis., on “Walking This Marathon of Life.” Cost is $10 inclusive. Childcare avail. by res. only. Res. needed by March 13 by calling Elaine at 274-4563, or Herta a at 364-3438. If unable to attend, cancel or arrange for someone else to take res. Prayer connection at 1 p.m. March 9.
