HAUNTED HOUSE handmade by local teenagers at the Chillicothe Public Library will be open for children ages 6 and up from 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 24. The house is designed to be a little spooky but not too scary. Admission is $1 and snacks will be served.
HALLOWEEN PARTY is 1-3 p.m. Oct. 26 at Illinois Valley Central High School commons for kids through third grade. There will be games, candy, crafts and much more. Free admission. Spon. by the IVC Student Council.

TRIP TO ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL in Rock Island Nov. 8 leaves by carpool from the parking lot of the Chillicothe Historical Society at Fourth and Elm streets at 8 a.m. Located on Arsenal Island, the 900-acre property was home to a Confederate prison camp in the 1860s and has been an active manufacturer of military equipment and ordinance since the 1880s. The Arsenal Museum displays the history of small arms development. Additional attraction is John Hauberg Indian Museum located at Watchtower Lodge in Rock Island. It houses an important collection of Sauk and Fox artifacts (the last two Indian tribes to occupy the area), many of which were donated by Chief Blackhawk’s family. Donation admissions.
