A 65-year-old Chillicothe man will spend time in prison for the sexual abuse of a woman in October 2007.
William Raymond Bender, of 1105 E. Truitt Road, is still in Peoria County Jail after being sentenced Friday to six years in prison for the sexual abuse of a mentally handicapped women he knew from his church.
His wife, Cynthia Ann Bender, 54, was sentenced to three years in prison Sept. 12 for aggravated criminal sexual abuse and is currently serving time at Dwight Correctional Center.
William Bender faced three to seven years for the crime.
Bender and his wife will receive day-for-day good-time credit. In other words, their sentences will be cut in half as they enter prison, said Assistant State’s Attorney Deborah Shelby.
She said that time could be added to their sentences with bad behavior, as well.
According to information presented in court, Bender took the woman to his house.
An explicit sexual conversation, which started in the car, continued inside, and the 27-year-old woman witnessed the Benders having sex.
After that, she was instructed to perform oral sex on Bender.
Even though the Benders told the victim not to tell anyone, she eventually informed her family, which led to investigation of the incident.
The couple was arrested Nov. 6 at the Peoria County Sheriff’s Department.
