Illinois Valley Central High School's longtime sports announcer Steve "Ash" Aeschleman died today at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
"Ash" suffered a massive heart attack Thursday night while at work at the Peoria Journal Star.
One of IVC's biggest fans and lifelong Ghost, Ash lent his voice to many athletic games down through the years. His quiet demeanor off the microphone changed to a voice with epic volume as he broadcast the ups and downs of the IVC Grey Ghosts.
He was a 1971 graduate of IVCHS.
Weber-Hurd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
