The first Village of Dunlap tree lighting was held Sunday at Cedar Hills Baptist Church.
The tree, which was moved from the back of the church to the front, is on display at the corner of Cedar Hills Drive and Allen Road.
The tree has been planted at the corner for the event to become an annual occurrence and to allow the tree to grow.
Before the lighting, Pastor Tim Beddingfield gave a welcome address before Village Mayor Jack Fennell gave the introductions. Dunlap Fire Chief Jim Emmanuels then gave various fire safety tips for Christmas.
After the lighting, the attendees sang “Joy to the World” as Santa came in on the top of a fire truck. He posed for pictures with children after the lighting.
Meanwhile, the Dunlap Middle School/Dunlap Valley Middle School orchestra plays under the direction of Rosemary Ardner. The orchestra played a variety of Christmas tunes to entertain the community.
